Gala House @ Muntri Street

Lots of cafes and chic restaurants in Old Penang ... making Penang ever more attractive.
Previously was Green House I think and then they changed owners.
Foodie attended a March birthday dinner here and was utterly satisfied.

Free wifi is very important these days for the Generation Y ...
Nice ambience :-)
The Galad Salad was fresh
Tomato soup
Mixed Grilled Platter was a pretty good
We asked for medium rare and it was perfectly done the way we requested it.
Mashed pumpkin hidden underneath is super yummy.
Must order ...
Kimchi Salmon Spaghetti
Something different and unique, although I found it a little sour.
Really this one is the preference of individual taste buds.
Roast chicken was succulent and nicely done.
Not dry at the breast.

Long black my must order, no fuss milk on the side :-)
Jack Daniel chocolate cake ...
To sum it all for you ...
This is a great place to have a meal with love one or to celebrate or just have a nice meal.
The ambience is nice and cosy and no one is rushing you out.
Take your time.
Good and friendly service.
The meats are well cooked to your liking.
The menu is unique with some tweeks and unique touch.
If you are lucky, you get to meet the friendly chef and his team
Keep it up guys.
Nice place ...

MyArte Cafe - Musetti Coffee

Artsy Fartsy Penang ...
Here I come :-)

We Penangites are enjoying loads of goodies with the sudden cultural awareness.
It is all well and good, gives us good reason to sit back, enjoy and relax ...
Hmmm ... all the time.

Here we are featuring one of the smaller cafes in the old city.
Nice place to sit and relax while in between the sticky hot weather looking at all the street and wire art.
Why not sit down and have a coffee.
They serve Musetti coffee here, not local coffee.

Nice and cosy with friendly staff
Free wifi if you need a quick update.

Even has a special corner promoting hand made baby shoes.

So many around, just gotta go around and look for the one you like most.
I try to go to the ones which are not so crowded.
This is a nice one if you wanna do some catching up with friends.
On a weekday, you may have difficulty looking for a car park,
the trick is too go a few more rounds ...
Remember FREE parking till 15th of February 2014 !

Lunch at a Boutique, anybody ?

On a busy Friday, with the busy traffic, a friend introduced Foodie to a quiet and peaceful place to have lunch, away from the hustle and bustle but right in the heart of town.
Never knew that this unique place existed but was told that it has been around for some time now.
Just in case some of you Foodie fans have not been here, this one is for you.
If you are around town and want to give yourself a long lunch treat but don't know where to go, here is the place to go ...
Located on the 1st floor of Penang Plaza, the cafe is actually inside a boutique.
So while waiting for your food to come, you can take a stroll.

Served by the owner, Lynn herself, you can savor the set lunch.
Few choices to pick, makes life easier for everyone.
Nice soup and nice mains.

Mains on that day was beef stew with mash potatoes and oxtail set which comes with rice and some nice homemade vegetables.
There was also a healthy choice of grilled salmon, but we decided to indulge on the meats.

When the time came for dessert, we were absolutely full to the brim but being gluttons we carried on and did not regret.
Cheese cake came as a small piece, just nice as we were so full already ... and it was very yummy and went very well with the coffee.
was very impressed for a small cafe like this one, the milk that came with the coffee was warm ...
So, what was suppose to be a quick simple lunch, turned out to be a long and lavish lunch and good catching up ... not to mention good value for money...

So, if you have worked hard for the week and feel like pampering yourself, get 1 or 2 close friends and have a chill time at Lynn's ...
The place is pleasant and quiet :-)
Have a good weekend ahead ... remember not to work too hard and treat your stomach well :-)
Opening Hours     :     10am - 7pm
Closed on Sundays

Transit Break @ Cafe Barbera, Subang Airport

August feels like a whole month of holidays, especially this week.
I suppose many will be traveling so just a little post for those who may be transiting at Subang airport ...
This nicely done up cafe is really cozy, with wifi, good food, nice coffee and friendly staff ...
Try the set menu which cups with a cup of soup, main course - choose pizza or pasta and coffee of various choices to your liking ...
The smoked duck pizza was really nice.

Looks really presentable but a little too sweet.
 Nice ambience ...
Staff may not be very familiar with the menu so you will just have to make do with the photos.
You may get more info if you could speak in Malay, sorry foreign tourists...
Not sure why they don't hire English speaking staff here.
Friendly and helpful but disadvantaged for not being able to communicate in English.
Anyway ... Happy Traveling, Happy Holidays and Travel Safe :-)
