Yet Another Hits the 'No Go! List' - Economy Rice

 On a super busy work day, Foodie decides to 'ta pao' (packed lunch) food back to work in view of the limited time.

So, on the way back from the post office, along Perak Road, Foodie found an economy rice stall.

Perfect.

Right along Perak Road, a few shop lots from a clinic, a lot of parking spaces available ...

The name of the stall ?

Ready Cook Food

It is actually the same coffee shop as the famous Perak Road Hokkien Mee in the morning

This is the only stall there ....

So here was Foodie's miserable lunch @ RM5.70 !

Half rice which is really less than half, 1 mini portion of black pepper chicken and 1 portion of 'fu chok' soya sauce (bean curd)

This lunch only lasted 2 hours !!!

For this price !!!

No thanks, no more next time.

This is the only stall there selling at lunch time, if you happen to be there, please don't bother trying ...

Not to mention the owner who behaves in a wierd trying to be professional manner which turns out to be super irritating ...

One more thing, you are not allowed to scoop what you want, he MUST do it for you !!!

We are back into the Street Food of Penang write ups after all the celebration and and indulging in the expensive foods.
This place is a gem if you are a Beef Lover.
The soup is not sugar sweet like some stalls, it is 'beef sweet' if you get what I mean.

Goes super well with the Beef Noodle
If you can't live without your local coffee, the coffee served here is not too bad , although it is a little on the strong side :-)

If you are not a beef lover, there is an economy rice stall here, which is ok , but a little on the expensive side

Your have a choice of small, medium and large.

Eat here if you wanna be a Sucker

Another post to fill up the NO GO ! list ...

During this festive season, you must NOT go to places that treat customers like suckers.

This is one of them.

The hawker place by the roadside between Jalan Mount Erskine and Lengkok Halia.

This is a brunch cum lunch venue.

This place used to be good, unfortunately due to the swarms of KL TAR college students this place has become popular.

Some tips on how you could be 'conned' here ...

1. The Drinks Stall - tells you there is no lime juice - offers to serve you lemon juice, and conveniently adds a sour plum in it then charges you RM2.50!  Ice kacang here if you don't mention anything - comes with the ice cream, again charge charge charge ...
2. Old ladies selling Laksa - 1st impression poor old ladies, so old still selling laksa, order 2 small bowl, comes 2 large bowls, sorry already prepared err... did you say you wanted small, yes auntie I mentioned 3 times, already made, expensive, so-so taste ... no please don't make the same mistake as me, pitiful old ladies, maybe not :-) Big bowl - eat it at 1pm, by 3.30 I am hungry ...
3. Economy Rice - not so economical, don't believe, try it ... one of the most expensive ones I have ever eaten
4. Sweet tooth - go for the desserts there, careful this lady is not so friendly
5. Look into the drain nearby - totally lose your appetite

Lots of variety here, used to frequent this place regularly, sorry changed my mind.

Absolutely over priced with rude people, feels like a war zone eating here...

If you are a Cantonese style cooking person, this is the place to go.  At 1130am, you can see a wide range of selection all being set up.
This stall started up as an economy rice place but later the business boomed for their catering service, so you could see loads of tiffin carriers around.  If you are thinking of catering, you could consider this place.

Owner is actually very hard working, lunch they do catering and economy rice.
For dinner, they actually sell 'choo char' at the Batu Lanchang market.
Don't be surprised if you feel the food taste the same.
The dishes are typically Cantonese style so it is not sweet as compared to the Hokkien style.

Lots of vegetables available.
From simple stir fry, to sambal, to curry.

Good selection of protein, fish, chicken and tofu.
Sometimes they have tofu of different choices.

Open from lunch time till early dinner - best to go at lunch time for fresh food, I only go for lunch :-)

If you want variety and good value for money, this is where you go for a quick lunch.  You get to dish out from a large selection of choices, sometimes if you are lucky they have the pig intestine cooked in soya sauce - highly recommended.

Old folks who wish to eat loads of fibre can pick from the wide selection of vegetables.  This family operated outlet is very friendly.  People from all walks of life come here to eat, a lot of working class people and if you like to 'watch' people, you may like this place.

The highlight here is Great Value For Money , do check it out !
