Al Medina - Moroccan Food @ Tanjung Bungah

 Moroccan Restaurant
523C Jalan Tanjung Bungah11200 Tanjung BungahPenang

Please note ...
They used to be next to Copthorne Hotel
Now they have MOVED OPPOSITE

 Ambience it's nice and quiet.
Takes a while for food to be served so it is good if you want to catch up and just chill for the evening, take your time and chit chat.

Best part is they allow BYO with no extra charges.

Vegetarian salads are nice and refreshing ...

 Food is healthy looking
Not oily, couscous, Tajines...
First time having Moroccan so it is difficult to compare and comment.
Overall, it was a nice and new experience

 Food is fresh :-)
Beware of mosquitoes ...

Gala House @ Muntri Street

Lots of cafes and chic restaurants in Old Penang ... making Penang ever more attractive.
Previously was Green House I think and then they changed owners.
Foodie attended a March birthday dinner here and was utterly satisfied.

Free wifi is very important these days for the Generation Y ...
Nice ambience :-)
The Galad Salad was fresh
Tomato soup
Mixed Grilled Platter was a pretty good
We asked for medium rare and it was perfectly done the way we requested it.
Mashed pumpkin hidden underneath is super yummy.
Must order ...
Kimchi Salmon Spaghetti
Something different and unique, although I found it a little sour.
Really this one is the preference of individual taste buds.
Roast chicken was succulent and nicely done.
Not dry at the breast.

Long black my must order, no fuss milk on the side :-)
Jack Daniel chocolate cake ...
To sum it all for you ...
This is a great place to have a meal with love one or to celebrate or just have a nice meal.
The ambience is nice and cosy and no one is rushing you out.
Take your time.
Good and friendly service.
The meats are well cooked to your liking.
The menu is unique with some tweeks and unique touch.
If you are lucky, you get to meet the friendly chef and his team
Keep it up guys.
Nice place ...

Ferringhi Garden - Perfect Ambience

Guess this is the place to impress :-p
So, when it comes to impressing, money will need to be spent.
 Food is good.
Service a so - so ...
They have reverted to hiring foreign workers so there are communication issues.
Try hard enough, you will get want you want.
If you are a tourist and you are strolling along Batu Ferringhi and you don't feel like Chinese food and you feel like pampering yourself ... this is the place to be ...
Rumor has it that they have a most reasonable wine list, so why not ?

Lamb was overdone, like most places in Penang :-(
So if you want it medium, the trick is to order medium rare.

 Dessert was flawless ...
For a non-dessert person, this Creme Brulee was exceptional :-)
Do order.

 Ambience as mentioned - perfect.
Good for scoring points whether it is with a romantic partner, business partners, future-in-laws etc etc ...
Look around you, everything is very in sync with nature.
The wood they use to build up the extensions are high grade stuff.
Nice to just walk around and see how they recycle nature with a tinge of finesse.
Bon Apetite !

Oyster Shots @ Summer Garden

While we are still in the school holidays and festive mood, Foodie has decided to keep this month for 'good food' reviews and take a break from the Street Food ...
Have you ever craved for raw oysters but do not feel like buffet ?
This will be the place to go for you when you are in that kind of mood :-)

Cozily located at the corner of Lembah Permai 3, the ambience is nice for a semi formal but relaxing dinner.
Best part is you can
BYO
Starting off with a crisp Caeser salad, followed by this 'to die for' oyster shots.
No alcohol in it, but very nice concoction of soy sauce, caviar and a touch of secret I guess...
you have just got to taste it
according to lady boss, oysters are imported from Japan, so limited stock available each day ...

 Seafood marinara
 Grilled salmon

This chicken looks pretty ordinary but the lemon grass sauce that comes with it is very unique ... similar to the lemongrass cake as well for dessert.
Steaks are rather thin cut, but the good thing about this place is they take your orders seriously so if you ordered medium rare, it will come medium rare, unlike most steak places in Penang.
This is the braised lamb ... highly recommended by Foodie
try this one
don't forget to bring along a nice bottle of red wine to go with it
... aah ... and start off first with some sparkling wine to go with the yummy oysters
continue on with a wide selection of freshly home made cakes to go with coffee or tea

that brings us to total satisfaction
sit down, relax and have small chat with friends and relatives

 Here are the operating hours
They are closed on Tuesdays ...

also a different selection for those who do not want to have Western food
