Yet Another Hits the 'No Go! List' - Economy Rice

On a super busy work day, Foodie decides to 'ta pao' (packed lunch) food back to work in view of the limited time.
So, on the way back from the post office, along Perak Road, Foodie found an economy rice stall.
Perfect.
Right along Perak Road, a few shop lots from a clinic, a lot of parking spaces available ...

The name of the stall ?
Ready Cook Food

It is actually the same coffee shop as the famous Perak Road Hokkien Mee in the morning
Address: 126, Jln Perak, Pulau Pinang. (Kedai Kopi Classic)

This is the only stall there ....
So here was Foodie's miserable lunch @ RM5.70 !
Half rice which is really less than half, 1 mini portion of black pepper chicken and 1 portion of 'fu chok' soya sauce (bean curd)
This lunch only lasted 2 hours !!!
For this price !!!
No thanks, no more next time.
This is the only stall there selling at lunch time, if you happen to be there, please don't bother trying ...
Not to mention the owner who behaves in a wierd trying to be professional manner which turns out to be super irritating ...
One more thing, you are not allowed to scoop what you want, he MUST do it for you !!!

Another Hokkien Cuisine Heart Throb - Ang Hoay Lor

While we are at it, here is another popular Hokkien Cuisine venue.
Previously located at Jalan Gurdwara, it has now moved to Jalan Perak
See below link for exact location, opneing hours and contact number:
Both Ang Hoay Lor and Hock Chuan Heong http://penangfoodie.blogspot.com/2013/04/best-hokkien-cuisine-hock-chuan-heong.html serves practically the same menu.
The only difference is a slight tinge in its cooking style.
Ang Hoay Lor is 'the name' for Hokkien Cuisine in Penang island, due to its many years and generations of existence.
The truth is these two venues originated from the same lineage.
A dish loved by many - Hokkien Char
Prawn fritters - an all time favourite

Two little happy customers waiting to be served ...

Just an additional point from Foodie, if you wish to come here for a meal, make sure you can be patient and wait, otherwise you may be disappointed as the que is pretty long most of the time and the chefs make sure they cook their best ie. they will not rush the dishes out just for the sake of dishing it out ...

Happy trying Hokkien Food !

We are back into the Street Food of Penang write ups after all the celebration and and indulging in the expensive foods.
This place is a gem if you are a Beef Lover.
The soup is not sugar sweet like some stalls, it is 'beef sweet' if you get what I mean.
Foodie's Choice -
Dried Koay Teow and Noodle separately served with the Beef Soup on the side

Don't forget to order this Ambrah Sour Plum Drink
Goes super well with the Beef Noodle
If you can't live without your local coffee, the coffee served here is not too bad , although it is a little on the strong side :-)

If you are not a beef lover, there is an economy rice stall here, which is ok , but a little on the expensive side
Your have a choice of small, medium and large.

This is 'D Man' behind the yummy beef noodles
Mr Tiger is his name

Here's another link on this stall, with better photos:

No Go List and Why You Should Not Go

Yong Tau Foo at Padang - Perak Road

It is getting more and more expensive, you can NOT question the pricing, most of the time over priced
          and calculated wrongly, be careful.

Not to mention the lady boss utter unfriendliness.

Try not drinking any water while having it, after that you will experience one of the thirstiest experience
in your life - this is called the power of ajinomoto.  If you are sensitive enough you can even feel some numbness on your tongue, and no, I am not exaggerating.

I gave it a second chance during lunch today 6th Nov 2012 - sorry the verdict is still NO cause I am
suffering from severe thirst NOW !

Number 2 ... Coming Soon ...
