Where To Get Fresh Pork in Penang ?

This post is dedicated to all the pork lovers out there. If you are thinking of cooking a pork dish and you are wondering where you can get fresh pork, this is the place.
Just stroll along Jalan Kuala Kangsar, there is plenty to see and you may be able to pick up a good deal or two :-)

Family business selling pork for generations, you can pick from whichever part of the pig you want and they can even mince it for you there and then.
Friendly smiles, a bargain or two, you can try to soak into the market ambience.

This shop also sells pork knuckle and roast pork.
I have never tried this one though cause I am only faithful to the best he he ... 

Price list is standard but they will give discounts to regulars and also give you a good cut.
So, what are the days you should not go to the market for fresh pork ... Mondays and Fridays are no no's .... cause it is frozen

Make friends with her, she will tell you what parts are good to buy for the day ...

This Wan Ton Mee stall is located at 48 and 50 Jalan Kuala Kangsar, why the address ... cause they don't have a name.  Near the Chowrasta market, this is the only stall in the two shop lots, coffee and noodle managed by the same owner, 1 woman show with the help of a coffee lady

I was late the day I came by here so I missed out on the beef noodle - which is a must eat

While walking along the Kuala Kangsar market on a public holiday hunting for good street food, I bumped into a Ban Chang Kueh stall at the junction of Jalan Kuala Kangsar and Kimberley Street.
I am not a person with a sweet tooth so these stalls normally don't attract me, until I saw the framed up photo below.

As I checked out the stall, and what the long queue was all about, my eye caught a glimpse of the wafer like ban chang kueh, suddenly I became excited and joined the long wait.

I remembered as a kid, I used to follow my mum to the market and very often, I will be treated with this crispy like thing which I love.  I have been looking high and low for it since and every ban chang kueh stall I have seen does not sell the crispy thin version.

I waited till there was no more people waiting and I asked the friendly aunty if she used to sell opposite, and she said, yes, for more than 30 years already ...
I have finally found the stall that I have been looking for all this while :-)

There are 3 versions of ban chang kueh sold here - super thin crispy, normal fold over and the thick version
