Whatever it is called, if you want 'chu char' which is fresh, fast and cheap, here is the place to be.
There is a wide selection of seafood which you choose from the 'open-kitchen' and you also decide how you want it cooked.
Also a good selection of vegetables for the healthy people.

If you are not a seafood person, you will not be left out as there is a variety of meat and chicken dishes you can choose from.

If you have guests from afar, the whole experience is rather unique.

The ambience is different.

Walk around, old georgetown where all the murals are, take a visit to the 3D museum nearby, 

then walk to this venue.

They are opened for lunch and dinner.

One of the strengths of this place is they are super efficient.
If you are hungry, the wait is not long at all.
You may be the one wasting time choosing what you want.
Once you decide, the dishes will come your way before you can warm up the seat!

Christmas being just round the corner, let's take a trip to St Anne's church at Bukit Mertajam :-)

 After a visit at the church, on the way back, you could stop by the road for a refreshing coconut water ... and if you are hungry could have a try at the Mee Kuah too ...

Nearby there are other stalls selling char koay teow and rojak as well.

Of course a trip to Bukit Mertajam is never complete without having Steamboat Dinner @ Restaurant Hooi Kee ... recent visit there, it is still the best and it's cheap & good !

 Nice place to relax and a good place to bring your halal friends.  Just try to be careful and DO NOT behave like a tourist.  However, if you are a tourist and it is obvious to everyone that you are, then too bad, you might be over charged if you are not lucky...

Nope, just make you know what you have chosen for your mix and match pasembur and be very specific about your order, make it obvious that you are looking at the price list.  Should be no problem if you do that :-)

Also here you have the famous Edgecumbe Road Mee Goreng. Also you have a choice of Mee Rebus.  Very reasonably priced for the regular ones.  Just make sure you don't simply add this and add that, the calculations may differ ... need to be street smart when we eat street food, right?

Don't forget to order a glass of coconut water or try the 3 layer iced  tea

There is also a Malay stall selling fried rice and noodles, I have not tried it for a while but I think it should be good, recollecting the last time I treid the Nasi Goreng Paprik and also seeing many people waiting for their turn. 

Overall, this is a very nice place to have a  tea break and relax. If you are a tourist staying at the Gurney Drive stretch, it is worth your while taking a short walk along Gurney Drive and trying out the local street food.
Just be careful and make sure you are not carrying a sling bag and become easy victim to the street snatchers...
